7 th   Regional Directorate of state Hydraulic Works was established in 1929- Total project value of regional directorate is 1700 million dollar and bud get of 2003 year is 86 million dollar.

    Our regional directorate is responsible for realization of land and water resources development in Samsun, Tokat  Amasya, Sinop , Ordu provinces of turkey which cover an area of 36 920 km2 and has a population of 4 million . Main duties of the Regional Directorate  are construction of dams irrigation facilities and flood control.

    Totally 116 000 ha land was opened to irrigation by regional directorate until today. Economically irrigable land is 374 592 ha. Construction of irrigation facilities has been going on in 95 545 ha of irrigable land, 211 000 ha is in investment programme,  final design has been completed in 44 556 ha planning stage of 48 440 ha. Has been finished and inception and planning work has been continuing in 11 428 ha of land at the moment.

    Irrigation land under operation has transferred to the water user associations in the area.

    The surface water potential of our region is 15 919 hm3 per year and also ground water potential is 892 hm3 per year.

    Our regional directorate has 24 dams projects in totally. The purposes of these dams are energy, irrigation, flood control, domestic, industry and drinking  water supply. 12 of them are in operation , 9 of them are at construction, final design of 2 have been completed, planning or going an, reconnaissance and master planning or 4 have been completed, the same work of 1 dam project is still going an. Besides our Regional directorate has 53 small dams projects which 12 of them are in operation, 15 ot them are at construction, planning of 1 has been completed.

    Our value of domestic , industry and drinking water supply projects are totally 166,55 hm3 per year . 84 117 ha of it is at operation, 96 315 ha is at construction , 19 626 ha is at inception and planning stage.

    Totally 126,50 hm 3 from the dams under operation and 40,05 hm3 of water per years is going to be supplied from at construction  stage dams.

     In flood control structural systems 75 653 ha of land has been protecting from flood and total length of 4950 km open drainage work has been implemented.

    At present 2559 people have been working at 7 th regional directorate of state hydraulic works. 345 of them are technical personnel 223 of them are engineers in different disciplines. 1682 staff are permanent workers 23 staff are seasonal workers.
