AIM OF THE
CONFERENCE
Water is the source of
life and its strategic importance is gradually increasing therefore it
is critically important to use, protect, and command it scientificly and
appropriately for the conditions of our time.DSI.4.Regional Directorate
involves Konya, Niðde, Aksaray, Karaman provinces and the whole Konya
Closed Basin is in the boundaries of the region.
Of all the regions in
our country, Konya Closed Basin has the minimum precipitation and demand
for the irrigation, drinking, potable and industry water is increasing
gradually, therefore the importance of the existing surface and
groundwater sources is increasing much more.
In this context, in
the coordination of DSI 4.Regional Directorate and with the attributions
of universities and professional organizations as well, with an aim to
form alternative projections for future ‘Konya Closed Basin Groundwater
and Drought Conference’ is going to be organised on 11-12 September
2008.
World Water Forum
which was first held in Morocco in 1997, second in Netherland 2000,
third in Japan 2003,fourth in Mexico 2006 was found great acceptance all
around the world and 5.World Water Forum was decided to be held in our
country in 2009.
Papers which will be
presented to conference must be practicable and contribute to the
solutions of the problems as well.With the papers evaluated by Science
Committee and the conclusions drawn from the conference, it is aimed at
contributing to the 5.World Water Forum which is going to be held in
Ýstanbul in 2009.
